Bayport-Blue Point School District Names 2 New Principals

Congratulations to Robert Haas​ and John Andruszkiewicz​!

BAYPORT-BLUE POINT, NY - The Bayport-Blue Point School District recently announced the appointment of two new principals for the 2019-2020 school year.

Robert Haas was named the new principal of Bayport-Blue Point HighSchool and John Andruszkiewicz was named principal of James Wilson Young Middle School.

Haas will assume the role of Bayport-Blue Point High School principal after a nearly five-year tenure as principal of the James Wilson Young Middle School.

During that time, Haas worked with teachers to implement and expand a 21st-century classroom initiative, developed "Academic Information Nights" for parents of each grade level aimed at strengthening home to school connections and worked with district administration, building faculty and district architects to design and plan a plethora of bond work which included STEAM Labs, science classrooms, home and careers classrooms, the school library and athletic complex.

No stranger to Bayport-Blue Point High School, Haas served as an assistant principal from 2009 to 2014, where he assumed the role of overseeing the district’s guidance department.

In addition, he was the social studies department chairperson for a number of years, in which he worked with department teachers to develop and implement effective lesson plans, and collaborated with teachers to develop annual goals.

Haas holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies, both from Stony Brook University, in addition to a School Building/District Post-Master Certificate from the same institution.

Andruszkiewicz comes to Bayport-Blue Point from the Lindenhurst School District, where he served as the assistant principal at Lindenhurst Middle School since 2013.

During his tenure at Lindenhurst Middle School, he instituted a number of social/emotional initiatives at the middle school level, facilitated the introduction of the Google Chromebook 1:1 initiative and organized a plethora of antibullying assemblies.

Before that, Andruszkiewicz served as the administrative chairperson for social studies/social studies teacher at the R.C. Murphy Junior High School within the Three Village Central School District.

While in this position, he developed departmental lessons in line with the Common Core Standards and organized a number of educational field trips to historically-rich areas such as Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New York City.

Andruszkiewicz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in social studies/secondary education from St. Joseph’s College, a Master of Arts in liberal studies with a concentration cluster in coaching from Stony Brook University along with an Advanced Graduate Certificate in educational leadership from the same institution.
