Bayport-Blue Point Students Bring Book Characters to Life

Sylvan Avenue Elementary School students in Christina Law's and Katherine Carpenter’s first-grade classes in the Bayport-Blue Point School District recently decorated pumpkins based on some of their favorite story book characters.

After being asked to write a book report based on the story of their choosing, the students then used their creativity and artistic skills to paint, color and dress a pumpkin to resemble the main character from their particular book.

“The effort the students put into reading the books and bringing the characters to life through this activity greatly supported their learning process,” said Ms. Carpenter. “I was very happy with the hard work they put into their pumpkins.”
