Bicyclist Killed In Suffolk County Crash
A 54-year-old woman who was riding an electric bicycle was pronounced dead at South Shore Hospital, authorities said.
BOHEMIA, NY — A bicyclist was killed Saturday afternoon when she was hit by a Ford Bronco on Lakeland Avenue, police said.
Melissa Turner, 54, was riding an electric bicycle south on the shoulder of Lakeland Avenue about 2 p.m. when she collided in the right lane with a 2023 Ford Bronco that also was southbound, Suffolk County police said. The crash happened just south of Smithtown Avenue, they said.
Turner was taken to South Shore University Hospital in BayShore where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Alex Lorenzo, 32, of Sayville, was driving the Bronco and was not injured, police said.
The Bronco and the bicycle were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
