Blue Restaurant Moves Closer to Approval for Outdoor Seating

The Brookhaven Town Board will makes its final decision on September 7.

Blue Restaurant is one step closer to obtaining approval from Brookhaven Town for outdoor seating.

At a Brookhaven Town Board meeting Monday, the town outlined the conditions Blue (located nearby the intersection of Montauk Highway and Nicholls Road) would need to meet if the town approves Blue's request for 40 seats on an existing patio.

Brookhaven Town stipulated that the seating must be used only for food service between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. and that all outdoor loudspeakers be removed. The town also mandated that Blue remove the gravel parking lot and re-landscape.

At the meeting, Blue Restaurant representative Tim Shea said the restaurant agreed to the town's stipulations. He requested four wording tweaks to to town's proposal, none of which changed the requirements substantively.

No one else came out to speak on the proposal. Board member Peter Zarcone asked the board's only questions, clarifying that the outdoor bar waitresses use to stage drinks would also close at 11 p.m.
