Brookhaven Town Hosts Hurricane Forum

Reps from multiple emergency agencies offer advice on how to be prepared.

Brookhaven Town Supervisor Ed Romaine recently hosted town residents, fire and rescue personnel, weather and emergency management experts and Town officials for a Hurricane Preparedness Forum at Town Hall in Farmingville.

The meeting was the first ever of its kind in for the town, as representatives from agencies such as the National Weather Service, New York's Department of Homeland Security, Suffolk County's Emergency Management, the Red Cross and LIPA made presentations.

“The Boy Scout motto is ‘be prepared,’ and when it comes to hurricanes, we should all follow their very good advice,” Supervisor Romaine stated in a release. “Super Storm Sandy proved how vulnerable we are to severe weather conditions and we need to be vigilant to the dangers throughout this hurricane season.”
