Cork Wreath Workshop

Bayard Cutting Arboretum, Upper Carriage House Saturday, Mar. 19, 2016 at 10:30 am – 1:00 pm

Members $20, Non-members: $25

Cork is a sustainable resource obtained from the cork oak tree. At 25 years old, and every nine years thereafter, cork is stripped from the trunk. These trees can live for three centuries when harvested in this manner. One common use of cork, and the most environmentally friendly compared to other alternatives, is as a wine stopper. Afterwards it is easily recycled and often stashed away for some future use. Have you ever admired those cork wreaths and said “I'll do that someday”? Well, this may be what you've been waiting for! Ten lucky people will be able to participate in this workshop. You will be supplied with a 12" straw base, corks, glue sticks, and some optional decorations. All you need to bring is your hot glue gun and those "special" corks you've been saving to finish off the project.
