BAYPORT, NY — A 67-year-old Holtsville man was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated after striking a girl riding a bicycle in Bayport on Monday evening, Suffolk County police said. William Schultz was driving a 2018 Honda when the vehicle struck the girl at the intersection of Montauk Highway and First Avenue at approximately 6 p.m., police said. The girl was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A Nassau County police officer detained Schultz until Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct officers arrived at the scene, police said. Schultz was arrested for driving while intoxicated and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
