"Ignorance is NOT Bliss"

Sayville School District and the Great South Bay Coalition will be offering a Parent-Awareness Evening entitled: "Ignorance is NOT bliss."

“Ignorance is NOT bliss” the Parent-Awareness Evening, will feature guest speakers on the following topics:


1. Youth and the Social Media: being aware of what can happen with improper use, the laws and consequences.
Presenter: Detective Rory Forrestal, Suffolk County Police Department, computer crimes unit and instructor at the Police academy, as well as guest lecturer to schools and professional organizations throughout the U.S.

2.Current Local Drug Trends: what are the risks?
Presenter: Pamela Mizzi, MS, CASAC, LMHC
Director Long Island Prevention Resource Center
Educator, lecturer and longtime advocate for
Healthy Choices and Drug Prevention.

3.Communication: the importance of dialoguing with your child on these topics, overcoming communication obstacles.
Presenter: Gail Feldman, MAT, Senior Drug Abuse Educator, Lecturer and Prevention Specialist for the Suffolk County Department of Health, Division of Community Mental Hygiene.

Presentations include “Operation Medicine Cabinet”- getting rid of unwanted, expired or unused medication (Suffolk County Police), and information about NARCAN training.
