Large Fire Breaks Out at Bayport Gardening Center

A firefighter was taken to the hospital to be evaluated after a massive fire broke out at Bayport’s Daisy Garden Wednesday night.

The fire started around 10:30 p.m. at the nursery and gardening center located at 71 Maple Street, police said.

Five fire departments–Bayport, Blue Point, Sayville, West Sayville and Holbrook–helped battle the fire, which was brought under control in about a half hour.

Police said the cause of the fire, which has not yet been revealed, does not appear criminal.
