LI Man Hit By Car, Seriously Injured After Walking On Highway: PD

SAYVILLE, NY — A man was seriously hurt after he was struck by a vehicle while walking on Sunrise Highway on Thursday night, Suffolk County police said.

Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday the man was driving a black Dodge pickup when it broke down near exit 50. He then exited the car and was walking to the main portion of the highway, when he was hit by a vehicle, police said.

The man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, the police said.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
