Lincoln Avenue Raises More Than $18,000 for Heart Health
Students Partook in The Kids Heart Challenge To Support American Heart Association
Lincoln Avenue Elementary School in the Sayville School District raised more than $18,000 for the American Heart Association during their annual Kids Heart Challenge, formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart. The school’s signature fundraising event serves as a celebration of fitness and emphasizes the importance of heart health at a young age.
The Kids Heart Challenge is organized each year by the school’s physical education teacher Beth Bolger. Ms. Bolger worked with the community and family volunteers to set up the event around the school’s field. The students rotated through a series of physical activities, thoughtfully designed to promote heart health and encourage a healthy, active lifestyle. After the activities, top student donors were selected to pie a series of teachers and administrators, including Bolger, Lincoln Avenue Principal Dominic Armano, and Sayville Middle School Principal Dr. Joseph Castoro.
“This event is a very important one to me, so it is really incredible seeing everybody come together to promote heart health right here at Lincoln Avenue,” said Dominic Armano. “This is a fun way to not only promote fitness to our students, but also to raise money for such an important cause.”
