LI Man, 82, Drowns While Crabbing In Great South Bay: Police
Good Samaritans attempted to resuscitate the Savyille man, police say.
SAYVILLE, NY — A Sayville man drowned while crabbing in the Great South Bay Friday afternoon, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, the incident took place on West Avenue in West Sayville at 2:30 p.m. Jan Zdenek, 82, of Sayville, was crabbing at the West Sayville docks, located on West Avenue, when witnesses discovered him in the water at 2:30 p.m., police said. Good Samaritans pulled him from the water and attempted to resuscitate him, police said.
Zdenek was transported by Sayville Community Ambulance to Southside Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.
