Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Into Truck
The motorcycle crashed into a New York State Department of Transportation truck, police say.
BOHEMIA, NY — A man died early Friday morning after a motorcycle crashed into a truck in Bohemia, Suffolk County police said.
Andrew Phillips, 34, of Central Islip, was driving a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound and crashed into the 2011 Mack dump truck, police said.
The New York State Department of Transportation truck was blocking eastbound traffic at 2:08 a.m. on Veteran’s Memorial Highway at the intersection of 13th Avenue, police said. The truck was assisting with a road closure while repairs were being made to utility poles damaged in an earlier crash, police said.

Phillips was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Both the motorcycle and truck were impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
