Police ID Motorcyclist Killed in Montauk Highway Crash

BLUE POINT, NY - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Blue Point Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, 25-year-old Steven Larsen, of East Patchogue was riding a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle west on Montauk Highway when he passed a vehicle on the left at a high rate of speed and struck an eastbound 2013 Honda Civic that was making a left turn into the parking lot of Eastern Athletic Club, located at 9 Montauk Highway.

Larsen and the Honda driver, Nancy Schlener, 77, of Sayville, were both transported via Patchogue Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where Larsen was pronounced dead and Schlener was treated for minor injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
