UPDATE: Mini School Bus Overturns, Triggers 29-Vehicle Pileup on Sunrise Highway [VIDEO]

Six people were injured in the chain-reaction crash Thursday morning, police say.

Six people were injured in a massive pileup on westbound Sunrise Highway that began with a mini school bus overturning Thursday morning, Suffolk Police said.

A total of 29 vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred at about 10:36 a.m. at Exit 49 between Johnson and Lakeland avenues in Bohemia.

The driver of the mini school bus, which did not have any children on board, apparently lost control of the bus after sliding on the roadway during brief, but intense snow squalls.

The bus overturned onto a guardrail and a FedEx truck then jack-knifed on the highway, leading to the pileup. Six people were treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Westbound Sunrise Highway was closed in the area for about three hours, but has now re-opened.
