BAYPORT, NY—Relax N Revive spa will open its door to the public Wednesday with a ribbon cutting from the Bayport-Blue Point Chamber of Commerce. The spa offers "hot and cold therapy" at 730 Montauk Highway in Bayport.

The grand opening will be from noon to 1 p.m.

Isar Castaneda has worked as a licensed massage therapist and aesthetician for years, doing house calls all over Long Island. When he was invited by a friend to jump in the ocean in Montuak last October he was amazed at how good he felt after.

"One day of cold dips became months...it became something i wanted to introduce and give people in the community a chance to experience."

There is a cold tub for visitors to dip into, either before or after time in the sauna at the spa. Some customers just come by for the cold dip, Castaneda explains, for the muscle, joint and even meditative benefits.

Athletes like the Crossfitters next door have been jumping in the tub after workouts and reporting that they feel instant muscle recovery. The plunges are short—anywhere from half a minute to three minutes.

"I recommend the first time starting slow and progressing. Physical benefits max out at three minutes and after that it can be used for mental training."

"For me I find the mental benefits, I can meditate longer. Everyone comes for different reasons."

Revive N Relax sells monthly memberships, day passes or punch cards. The spa also offers massages, facials and time in a meditation pod.
