Bathing Advisory in Place for Corey Beach
Residents are to avoid swimming at the town beach for at least 24 hours.

A bathing advisory is in place for Corey Beach in Blue Point given the heavy rainfall on Monday.
The Brookhaven Town beach, at the end of Corey Avenue, is is one of 67 Suffolk County beaches that is under such an advisory.
The advisory is based on the potential that bacterial numbers in excess of New York State standards, resulting from the heavy rain, will impact these areas, according to a county press release.
The beaches covered by the advisory are located in areas that are heavily influenced by stormwater runoff from the surrounding watersheds and/or adjacent tributaries, and, because of their location in an enclosed embayment, experience limited tidal flushing.
