One Hurt, Windshield Smashed During Large Fight in Sayville

BREAKING: It happened Monday night, police say.

SAYVILLE, NY – One person was injured during a large fight in Sayville Monday night, police said.

It happened around 9:40 p.m. Police said a group of people was moving around between a few locations between the movie theater on Railroad Avenue and Starbucks on Main Street when a fight broke out.

One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and the windshield on a vehicle was broken.

Jim McCourt, a local resident, told Patch that the group was made up of 30-40 teens and he saw at least three of them get hit in the head with a bat. He said the fight sent people scrambling into the movie theater, Carvel and Five Points Cafe for cover.

"I've been through riots in DC!" McCourt said. "This was an absolute sh--show in my beautiful home town."
