Police ID Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car In Bohemia
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene early Wednesday, police say.
UPDATE Saturday 5:40 p.m.: Police have identified the pedestrian as 48-year-old Peter Sandstrom, of Bohemia.
BOHEMIA, NY – A 48-year-old man was struck and killed by a car in Bohemia early Wednesday, Suffolk Police said.
According to police, the man was walking in the southbound lane in front of 698 Lakeland Avenue when he was struck and killed by a 2005 Hyundai XG350 that traveling southbound at about 1:20 a.m.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai, Ricardo Garcia, 62, of Bay Shore, remained at the scene and was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
