Pedestrian Struck, Killed While Crossing Sunrise Highway Ramp

A 63-year-old man died after he was struck by a car Tuesday morning, Suffolk County Police say.

SAYVILLE, NY — A 63-year-old man died after he was hit by a car Tuesday morning, Suffolk County Police said.

The man was crossing the westbound Sunrise Highway entrance ramp, west of Lakeland Avenue, at 6:45 a.m. when he was struck by a 2020 Jeep Wrangler, police said.

He was taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver of the Jeep was not injured and no charges have been filed, police said.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
