Driver Unscathed After Smashing Pickup Truck Into Building: PD
A driver in a pickup truck crashed into a Long Island building Friday night, causing extensive damage, police say.

BAYPORT, NY — A driver crashed his vehicle into a building under construction Friday night in Bayport, police said.
According to Suffolk County Police, officers responded to a 911 call at about 10:55 p.m. about a pickup truck that had crashed into a building at the corner of Snedecor Avenue and Montauk Highway.
Upon arrival, Bayport Fire Department found that the building had extensive damage, but was not occupied, officials said. According to Community Ambulance, the driver self extricated themselves prior to authorities' arrival and was not injured. No charges have been filed, police said.

The Town of Brookhaven's technical rescue team was also at the scene.
The structure was temporarily stabilized due to the damage. Town of Islip Building Department placed fencing up to secure the area from pedestrian traffic, Community Ambulance told Patch.

Police told Patch that the building appeared to have previously been a commercial business location.
