SAYVILLE, NY — Whether you're a cat lover or just like to craft, one Sayville business is aiming to host one "fabulous" night.

The Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe, located at 197 W Main Street in Sayville, will be hosting a Painting With Drag Queens event on Saturday, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Melanie Wildfeuer, manager at the cafe, told Patch that participants will follow a step-by-step painting class, guided by drag queens Toni Homeperm and Jasmine G string.

In between the steps, the drag queens will break to perform musical numbers.

"It's fun, because you get to paint and go home with a painting," said Wildfeuer. "But then you also watch a drag show."

The Shabby Tabby Cat Cafe is a women-run business dedicated to giving adoptable cats a second chance by housing them in a cafe setting.

The cafe hosts other recurring drag events, such as drag bingo, for cats to potentially find their forever homes.

"People come in saying 'I'm not looking for cats. I'm not looking to adopt,'" Wildfeuer said. "By the end of the night, they're like, 'How do I apply for this cat?"

Wildfeuer said that not only do these events encourage guests to meet adoptable cats, but to have a good time as a community.

"You can't be unhappy at one of those events with cats and with the drag queens," she said. "They just bring you into a whole different day. You're just able to relax and enjoy yourself."

Tickets for Painting With Drag Queens are $25 per person, and include all art supplies and unlimited drinks.
