Sayville High School Earns Statewide School Of Distinction Honor

Every varsity team met the state athletic association's academic standard during the 2025-26 school year.

SAYVILLE, NY — Sayville High School has earned the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s School of Distinction award for the 2025-26 school year, the district said.

The designation recognizes schools where every varsity team earned Scholar-Athlete Team status during its respective sports season.

To qualify, at least 75 percent of each team’s active roster must maintain a collective grade-point average of 90 or higher during the applicable marking period or athletic season, according to NYSPHSAA.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and perseverance of our student-athletes, coaches, teachers and families,” said Dr. Ryan Cox, Sayville’s director of physical education, health and interscholastic athletics.

Sayville was among 118 schools statewide to receive the School of Distinction designation for the 2025-26 academic year.

“At Sayville High School, we believe excellence extends beyond athletic performance,” Cox said. “Our students consistently demonstrate that they can compete at a high level while maintaining a strong commitment to academics, and we are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished.”
