Sayville Middle School Staff Members Honored by National Association
Both Recognized for Commitment and Dedication to Sayville Students

Two Sayville Middle School staff members have been recognized by the Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE) as outstanding adult advocates for young adolescents, an honor awarded during March in celebration of Middle Level Education Month. The recognition highlights educators and staff who build meaningful relationships that guide students through the critical transition into adulthood.
Lisa Krauth, a sixth grade science teacher, was honored for her exceptional work guiding students through one of their most formative transitions. With a deep understanding of the developmental needs of young adolescents, Ms. Krauth creates a classroom environment in which academic rigor is seamlessly paired with meaningful support. Known for her engaging, high-energy lessons, she brings complex scientific concepts to life and inspires her students to see themselves as scientists, fostering curiosity that extends far beyond the classroom.
Bob Haynes—affectionately known by students as “Mr. Bob”—was also recognized as a cornerstone of the school community. More than a staff member, he is a constant and reassuring presence who prioritizes building authentic relationships with every student he encounters. Whether connecting with students in the cafeteria, on the playground, or in the hallways, Mr. Bob’s approachable demeanor is paired with a steadfast commitment to safety. A retired law enforcement officer, he embodies both mentorship and vigilance, helping to create a school environment that is both supportive and secure.
