Sayville School Budget Passes

The votes are in. The absentee ballots were counted and the community approved the 2020-2021 school budget.

SAYVILLE, NY — Residents within the Sayville School District boundaries voted to approve the 2020-21 school budget by a margin of 4,043 votes to 1,081.

Residents voted on the district's proposed $96,208,308 spending plan for the school year, a 1.97 percent increase from the current budget. To fund the increase, the district proposed a tax levy of $61,106,560 up 2.01 percent from the current year's.

In addition, two school board trustees were elected. Thomas Cooley ran unopposed and was re-elected after re 4,369 votes. Incumbent James J. Bertsch, Jr. was also re-elected with 3,597 votes. The two beat out Teal Rizzo, who received 1,193 votes.
