Sayville School District Adds Additional Security After Texas Shooting
Although no threats have been made, the district says it is taking an "abundance of caution."

SAYVILLE, NY — The Sayville School District, along with other schools across Long Island, are taking precautions on Wednesday, after 19 children and two adults were killed in the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
In a statement on its website, Sayville School District announced that additional security staff will be present throughout the district.
"We were saddened to learn of events that occurred in Texas earlier today," the statement read. "Out of an abundance of caution, we will have additional security staff present in the district on Wednesday, May 25th. We know of no imminent threats at this time. As always, Sayville's security staff, administrators and educators will work closely with law enforcement to ensure that our students are safe in their schools."

Suffolk County Police also announced on Wednesday that they would step up the patrolling of schools. No threats have been reported.
