Sayville Students Compete in Long Island Science Congress

Two Sayville High School RISE Tech research students competed in the Long Island Science Congress in April. Wesley Jones and Max Person each presented engineering projects to judges from across Long Island.

Both Wesley and Max invested hours in the research lab developing and testing their projects prior to presenting their results at The Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City. Wesley presented a biomedical research project focused on minimizing ankle injuries in basketball players. He developed an innovative brace design using 3D printing. Max’s project was in the “Earth, Space, and Energy” category, presenting on regenerative power production for electric vehicles through wind resistance during vehicle braking. They were supervised by Mr. Rick Caskey, Sayville High School RISE Tech research teacher.

“Both Wesley and Max put an enormous amount of hard work into their projects for the Long Island Science Congress,” said Sayville High School principal Stephanie Bricker. “I am so proud of them and impressed by their presentations.”
