Spreading Kindness One Rock At A Time
Academy Street Elementary students recently spent a morning creating "Kindness Rocks."

From BBP Schools: In an effort to enhance a strong sense of school community, students who devote their extracurricular time to the Peer Mentors Program at Academy Street Elementary School recently spent the morning of Jan. 15 creating “Kindness Rocks.” With assistance from elementary school social worker Brooke Yonick and school psychologist Sebastian Saylor, the students discussed such topics as bullying, conflict mediation, asking for and offering help and learning to be assertive, amongst others. Applying their knowledge of these concepts, the students painted beautiful works of art on rocks, featuring words of wisdom and phrases of hope and encouragement to be seen by all.
The school’s Peer Mentors learn to be role models in the school, working on noticing social happenings as they continue to make Academy Street Elementary school a great place to learn. The program is currently open to any third- and fourth- grade students who would like to participate.
