They Said What? Check Out Patch's Quote of the Week

Every week Patch slices up a meaty comment from a news story or feature.

A debate over the value of state assessment examinations illicited lots of comment this week from parents, education leaders and the State Department of Education which gave one of the most interesting responses in story coverage.

Here's what the state education department had to say about parents who opt to have their child sit out tests:

“Parents who keep their children from taking these tests are essentially saying, 'I don't want to know where my child stands, in objective terms, on the path to college and career readiness' -- and we think that that's doing them a real disservice."
