Woman Leaves 15-Month-Old Daughter Alone In Car In Long Island Parking Lot: Cops

Police broke a window Tuesday to remove the child from the car.

EAST ISLIP, NY – A 33-year-old woman was arrested after she left her 15-month-old daughter alone in a car in a Long Island parking lot Tuesday afternoon, police said.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. outside the Staples store located in a shopping center at 2650 Sunrise Highway in East Islip. Police

Suffolk Police officers broke a window to remove the child from the car, which was not running. She was in the locked vehicle for about 20 minutes, police said. It was 80 degrees at the time.

When the child's mother, Danielle Mazzarone, returned to the car, she was arrested. The child was evaluated by EMTs at the scene.

Mazzarone was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of second degree criminal contempt. She violated two orders of protection for being in the company of her two children, the 15-month-old and her 13-year-old son, police said.
