4 Westchester High School Juniors Honored For Volunteer Service

The Junior League of Central Westchester gave four student volunteers $1,000 awards at a May meeting in Scarsdale.

SCARSDALE, NY — The Junior League of Central Westchester recently recognized four high school juniors from local school districts during its annual Volunteer Service Award ceremony in Scarsdale.

Alexandra Ziff Glueck of Irvington High School, Ryan Hirshhorn of Scarsdale High School, Hayley Brick of White Plains High School, and Smera Thekkenmar of Somers High School were recognized. Each student was honored during the Junior League's May general membership meeting at the historic Wayside Cottage.

According to the Junior League of Central Westchester, the annual award recognizes female high school juniors for volunteerism and public service. The group said this year's applicants formed a large pool and that the four recipients stood out for their work in their communities.

"Each award recipient demonstrated an exceptional commitment to volunteerism and public service," the organization said. "The award aims to celebrate and encourage young women who are making a meaningful impact in their communities and to inspire their continued civic engagement."

Each finalist received a $1,000 award at the May meeting in Scarsdale.
