Touted guard Jabarie Hinds led the way for Mt. Vernon with 25 points, including an eight-point, two-steal run that was capped off by a three-pointer by forward Jarrel Marshall to push the Knights' lead up to 35-9 at halftime. Hinds hit 16 in the first half.
Although Scarsdale managed to rack up 32 points in the third and fourth quarters thanks to a commendable effort by guard Greg Garfinkel and guard/forward Langston Willis, who both had nine points, they never came within 20 points of Mt. Vernon after halftime.

Some Raider highlights included an early steal by Garfinkel that led to an easy bucket on a fastbreak, and a crowd-pleasing block by center David Bougard. Garfinkel also stood out from downtown, where he made the three three-pointers that made up his nine total.
Other than Hinds, the Knights also saw a strong performance from forward Horace Copeland, who put up 13 points, all in the fourth quarter.
