The Raiders took control in the second quarter and didn't let up in a close-fought game with Mamaroneck that Scarsdale won 61-55, despite a season-high 28 points from Tiger guard Matt Mezansky.

Mamaroneck started off strong, leading 11-9 by the end of the first quarter.

And although things seemed dismal for Scarsdale as Mezansky scored on two fastbreaks in a row to open the second quarter, the Raiders regrouped and tied the game at the four-minute mark.

By the end of the third quarter it was 46-38, and although the Tigers pulled off a 7-2 run that cut Scarsdale's lead to three, forward Johan Drakes put an end to that, while also putting up some big points.

Despite making 25 free throws to Scarsdale's 8, Mamaroneck just couldn't catch up.

Drakes had 13 points for the Raiders, as well as a particularly thunderous block in the second quarter that helped Scarsdale gain momentum.

Center Raymond Grazi added eight points, and guards Greg Garfinkel and Evan Fiedler both put up seven.

For the Tigers, forward Alex Lanni had seven points.  Guards Sam Gruppo and Alec Reinleb both had six.

The Raiders will play in White Plains on February 2.
