Daily Sports Digest: Edgemont Volleyball Wins Close Contest

It took five sets but Edgemont was able to defend their home court as they narrowly defeated Saunders. The Scarsdale volleyball and soccer squads also won, as Edgemont’s soccer team and the Raider swim team fell.

Yesterday’s Results:

Sport: Volleyball

Game: Saunders @ Edgemont                                  

Score:  Edgemont Wins 3-2

Highlights: Edgemont escaped Saunders with a narrow victory that went the distance. Lauren Stuzin led the Panthers with 23 kills and Julie Conclino added 17 assist.

Sport: Girl’s Soccer

Game: Scarsdale @ Eastchester

Score:  Scarsdale Won 5-2

Highlights: The Eagles took the 2-0 lead into half time but Scarsdale escaped Eastchester with a 5-2 victory thanks to 2 goals from Emily Smith and Kate Hennessy.

Sport: Girl’s Swimming

Game: Bronxville @ Scarsdale

Score:  Scarsdale Lost 94-76

Highlights: Emma Hutchins and the Broncos cruised to victory Tuesday night. Hutchins found first place finished in both the 200 and 400 Freestyle. In the losing effort Scarsdale’s Nicole Katchis finished first in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Butterfly for the Raiders.

Game: Scarsdale @ Mount Vernon

Score:  Scarsdale Won 3-0

Highlights: It didn’t take long as the Raiders cruised to victory at Mount Vernon in straight sets. Scarsdale’s Greta Miconi led the team with 6 kills while Nicole Lenchner led the Raiders in assist with 7.

Sport: Boy’s Soccer

Game: Edgemont @ Bronxville

Score:  Edgemont Lost 3-0

Highlights: Jack Conners led the Bronco defense as he had 5 saves and shutout the visiting Panthers. Bronxville’s goals came from Carter Bond, Jack Aherne and Nick Capasso.

Today’s Schedule:

In boy’s soccer, Pelham will head to Scarsdale for a 4:30 meeting.

In field hockey, Scarsdale will host Mamaroneck at 5.

In girl’s soccer, Scarsdale heads to Mount Vernon at 4:30.

In girl’s swimming, Scarsdale will host Ardsley at Westchester Community College at 5.

In volleyball, Scarsdale heads to New Rochelle for a 4:15 match.

In field hockey, Edgemont heads to Irvington at 4:15.

In girl’s soccer, Pelham faces off against Edgemont at 4:30.

In volleyball, Edgemont and Yonkers will face off at 4:30 at Yonkers Middle School.
