Daily Sports Digest: Scarsdale Hits The Water, Defeats Eastchester

It was a busy day in Scarsdale athletics. Raider Nation hit the water and defeated Eastchester with relative ease. Scarsdale and Edgemont both won their volleyball games while both schools struggled in field hockey. 

Today promises to be another great night for athletics, as long as the weather holds up the Raiders and Panthers will see a lot of action.

Yesterday’s Results:

Sport: Field Hockey

Game: Scarsdale @ White Plains

Score:  Teams Tied 0-0

Highlights: The game finished without a score and a huge reason for that was the Raider defense led by goalie Becky Schwartz who finished the game with 3 saves.

Sport: Girl’s Soccer

Game: Scarsdale @ New Rochelle

Score:  Scarsdale Lost 2-0

Highlights: Scarsdale hit the road and beat New Rochelle Thursday on the strength of 10 saves from goaltender Allie Chaves, the Raider goals were scored by Lindsay Root and Samantha Ezratty. New Rochelle’s Katie Grogan had ten saves in the loss.

Sport: Girl’s Swimming

Game: Eastchester @ Scarsdale

Score:  Scarsdale 97-73

Highlights: Scarsdale took over Thursday’s meet rather quickly as the Raiders came away with a convincing 97-73 victory. Scarsdale’s Katherine Suen finished in first in both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Backstroke. For Eastchester, both Anelisa Tucker and Krista Gresia came away with first place finishes.

Sport: Volleyball

Game: Scarsdale @ White Plains

Score:  Scarsdale Won 3-0

Highlights: Raider Nation defeated the White Plains Tigers with ease, 3-0. Nicole Lenchner led the way with 12 assists for Scarsdale as Carina Spiro had 12 kills.

Sport: Field Hockey

Game: Edgemont @ Bronxville

Score:  Edgemont Lost 3-0

Highlights: Bronxville defeated Edgemont Thursday night on the strength of two Gretchen Richter goals. Claire Sargent added another score for the Broncos as Katie Knox played terrific defense in goal. Edgemont goalkeeper Olivia Freeman made 5 saves in the loss.

Sport: Volleyball

Game: Edgemont @ Briarcliff

Score:  Edgemont Won 3-0

Highlights: It wasn’t easy, but Edgemont survived a trip to Briarcliff Thursday afternoon. The Panthers won the matches 27-25, 25-14, and 25-18. 

Today’s Schedule:

In boy’s soccer, Edgemont will travel to Pelham’s glover field for a 4:30 showdown.

In girl’s tennis, Edgemont will head to Scarsdale to take on the Raiders at 4:15.

In girl’s swimming, Harrison will host Scarsdale at 4:30 at Louis M. Klein Middle School.

In boy’s soccer the Hugeonots will defeand home field at 4:30 against Scarsdale.

In football, New Rochelle will take on Scarsdale at 7 at New Rochelle High School.

In volleyball, the Raiders and Tigers will face off at Mamaroneck High School at 4:15.
