While the high school playoffs are heating up around the area, one local college athlete is setting the record book ablaze. Brenna White of Mercy College is a freshman on the school’s volleyball team. While other first-year players are fighting for minutes and playing time, White has the opportunity to break a school and possibly an NCAA record.
As White and the Mavericks defeated Molloy College in four sets yesterday, the freshman recorded a career high of 31 kills, giving her over 600 on the season. No Maverick has reached the mark in a decade, but White already ranks third all time in Mercy history for a single season. With games left on the schedule, she could find herself with the all time mark in no time.

White also leads all divisions in the NCAA with 611 kills on the year. No freshman has ever finished the season with that distinction. This could make for a historical season for the Mercy freshman.

Highlights: Edgemont’s field hockey season ended at Putnam Valley. Elizabeth Curtis had seven saves in the loss.
Sport: Football
Game: White Plains vs. Scarsdale
Score: White Plains Won 27-20 (OT)
Highlights: Eric Berman scored on a long run with under five minutes left in the game to give Scarsdale the 20-13 lead. However, it would bee short lived as White Plains tied up the contest and won the game in overtime.
Sport: Girl’s Soccer
Game: Mamaroneck @ Scarsdale
Score: Scarsdale Won 1-0
Highlights: Charlotte Miller scored the game’s only goal in the first half. Danielle Zelin had 12 saves in the loss.
