SCARSDALE, NY — Police said that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the head-on car crash August 20 on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Scarsdale. Damita Mathis, 56, of Beacon Falls, CT drove for 2.5 miles in the wrong direction on the parkway in the early morning hours.
Mathis entered the parkway from a gas station near the Harrison-White Plains border that had access to both directions, the Journal News said.
Mathis had one passenger in the vehicle — Uvette Frasier, 45, of West Haven, CT — at the time of the crash. Mathis was pronounced dead at the scene. Frasier was seriously injured.
