SCARSDALE, NY—Carol singing, refreshments and fun are all part of the festivities planned for Hitchcock Church’s annual All-Community Carol Sing and Christmas Party. Members of the community are invited to share in the joy of the coming of Christmas at the All-Community Carol Sing-Along; an informal, family-friendly event in the Sanctuary at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 18.

As the assembled guests sing the final carol, they will leave the church and walk down Greenacres Avenue to the Christmas tree standing outside the doors to the Children’s House. Here they will sing “Silent Night” as the lights on the tree are lit (weather permitting). This lovely moment is the perfect segue to the Annual Christmas Party, at 5:00 p.m. in the Lower Children’s House, where everyone is welcome to partake of holiday refreshments and meet friends old and new. At 5:30, there will be crafts projects in the Upper Children’s House, where children of all ages can work on an ornament or present to take home.

There may even be a special guest to make the party an extra-special occasion (who might that be???)
The Party, hosted by the Board of Deacons and the Hospitality Committee, has fast become a community tradition. “We love having our neighbors and friends come to the Christmas Party,” said Lisana Gabriel Brown, Moderator of the Board of Deacons. “For us, this is the true spirit of Christmas: singing carols, enjoying good food, and being together.”
Christmas Eve services at Hitchcock include an informal service for families with young children at 5:30, J.S. Bach’s Magnificat presented by the Chancel Choir, soloists and orchestra at 8:30; and a Traditional Service of Lessons and Carols at 9:00.
