Scarsdale, New York--Do you live next door to a logophile? Do you have friends who are secretly fabulous spellers?
Don’t miss the second annual Adult and Teen Spelling Bee on Friday, January 27th and see how many of your friends and neighbors will be competing. Sponsored by the Friends of the Scarsdale Library, the Bee will begin at 7:30pm in the Scarsdale High School auditorium (Brewster Road entrance). Admission is $5 per person (children under 5 are free). The proceeds from this year’s Bee will benefit the Library’s Children's Room.
Come in from the cold with your entire family to cheer for your friends or just enjoy watching the lively fun-filled competition. Audience members can also look forward to quizzes and giveaways as well as competing for fabulous raffle prizes such as an iPod Touch, Monster Beat headphones or Soul Cycle classes.

Scarsdale’s own Ed Coleman, the voice of the New York Mets, will emcee the event. Coleman has been hosting the Mets pre- and post-game shows for nearly 15 years.
There are teams of real estate brokers, village and library trustees, editors from the Scarsdale Inquirer and local teens. Check the list posted on the Friends of the Library website (www.scarsdalelibrary.org/friends/spellingbee/html) to see who is competing.

This year’s “Diamond Sponsors” include Houlihan Lawrence, Paul Hastings LLP, Bradford and Phyllis Perkins, and Richard and Sara Werder Businesses and individuals who are interested in sponsoring the Bee by making a donation of $250 or more should contact Sara Werder at 472-6264. In addition, anyone can become a "Friend of the Bee" by making a donation of any amount to help refurbish the Children's Room.
