The 97 member Westchester Band continues their free summer concert series Thursday Aug. 4th in Chase Park at 8:00pm. The program is titled "Klezmer to Classics" and will feature clarinetist Ben Baron in the New York premier of two works for clarinet and band. He will play the tradional klezmer tune "Der Heyser Bulgar" and the Artie Shaw Clarinet Concerto. Mr. Baron has just completed a tour of the midwest performing this music. The band under the direction of Alan Hollander, now in his 11th year of stewardship, will be heard in what he calls "audience friendly" music. Dixieland, marches, light classics and the popular "mystery tune". Name that tune and you could win a prize from a local merchant. The concerts are sponsored by the Scarsdale Dept. of Parks and Recreation and Friends of Westchester Band. Bring a lawn chair, blanket, picnic and enjoy what should be a memorable night of music in downtown Scarsdale. Rain location is Scarsdale High School Auditorium
