Westchester Band

The 97 member Westchester Band concludes their 2011  series of free outdoor concerts in Chase Park on Thursday Aug. 11th at 8:00pm. The band's conductor Alan Hollander, Chairman of the Music Dept. at Lehman College, now in his 11th year at the helm, has scheduled another "audience friendly" program of light classics, show tunes, marches, dixieland, and the popular "mystery tune" which could win you a prize from a local merchant. This week's soloist is Dr. Gary Dranch who will perform the "Concertino for Clarinet Op.26" written by Carl Maria von Weber. This work has been performed by major orchestras world-wide including the NY Philharmonic. The concerts have been sponsored by the Scarsdale Dept. of Parks and Recreation and Friends of Westchester Band. Bring a folding chair, blanket or picnic and join your friends in downtown Scarsdale on Thursday evening. Audiences have been large this summer so come early for the best seating area. Rain location is Scarsdale High School Auditorium.
