Assemblyman Tom Abinanti (D-Greenburgh/Mt. Pleasant) today thanked the voters of the 92nd Assembly District for giving him a decisive 62%-38% reelection victory. Abinanti will be sworn in to his third term in January.
“Together we will continue to work hard for what’s right for our community,” said Abinanti. “We have an important and full agenda ahead of us: improving education while reducing the property tax burden, protecting our natural environment, restoring the State’s concern for our most vulnerable residents and eliminating the stranglehold that big money special interests have on government.”

The Board of Elections’ latest results show that Abinanti won by about 8,000 votes (20,765 to 12,787).
Many news outlets today published erroneous reports that Abinanti was down 28 votes - based on early incomplete Board of Elections results. The incomplete results did not include the Town of Greenburgh and reflected only the Town of Mount Pleasant portion of the 92nd AD which is where Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino resides. Astorino won the 92nd Assembly District in his 2013 reelection campaign for County Executive.
“I am pleased that we did so well in Mount Pleasant despite the expected strong support for Astorino in his hometown,” said Abinanti.
Reflecting a statewide low-turnout trend, in the 92nd AD only 35,655 voted which is down 8,492 from 2010 (44,147 turnout) and down 25,826 from 2012 (61,481 turnout).
“Clearly, the ‘headliners’ in this election failed to capture the attention of most of the electorate -– especially Democrats,” said Abinanti. “We need to bring these voters back to help make decisions for the direction of our community.”
