Greenburgh Receives Landfill Closure Grant
The application was submitted in 2009.

GREENBURGH, NY — The Town of Greenburgh received notice from the NYS DEC that its 2009 grant application, under the Landfill Closure State Assistance Program (LCSAP) for the Town of Greenburgh Landfill Closure Project-Taxter Road Leaf Transfer Station, was awarded $2 million. The grant application process started in 2007 with the preparation of the closure plan for the Taxter Road Leaf Transfer Station Town of Greenburgh, New York by the Cornerstone Engineering, PLLC.
Supervisor Paul Feiner said, through the hard work, dedication and diligence of Victor G. Carosi, P.E., Commissioner of Public Works, and WinsomeGordon, Grants Coordinator, the Town of Greenburgh filed an application for this project on November 3, 2009, and on April 21, 2017, eventually received notification of the award from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Feiner said special thanks were given to Victor Carosi and Winsome Gordon for their hard work and perseverance.
The Town of Greenburgh also thanks the Rep. Nita Lowey, Senator Charles Schumer, Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, former Assemblyman Richard Brodsky and George Gumina, philanthropic coordinator for the Town of Greenburgh, for their ongoing support for this long-awaited project.
