Letter To The Editor: Edgemont Petition Sufficiency Decision To Come In 1st Week Of May
The author of the letter is the supervisor of the Town of Greenburgh.

To the Editor:
I would like to thank Edgemont residents who attended the Edgemont petition sufficiency hearing on April 24th for participating in the petition review process. I will carefully review all the comments received —supporting and objecting to the petition sufficiency before I make my decision whether a referendum can legally be held early this summer. By law a decision has to be made within 10 days of the close of the public hearing — the end of next week.
New York State statute is clear. Edgemont residents have the right to vote on whether they want to incorporate as a village or not. The issue: Does the petition, which was filed with me earlier this year, comply with the statutory requirements? Between now and the date the decision is made, we will carefully review the legal issues that were addressed by both sides during the evening hearings and the additional affidavits received from supporters and objectors on April 25.

The town will continue to provide Edgemont residents with the highest quality services. We are currently in the process of installing pedestrian activated crosswalk lights on Ardsley Road, at Seely Place. And will soon install a pedestrian activated crosswalk light crossings at Edgemont Road, at Barclay Road and the Crane's pond. This is being done at the urging of the Old Edgemont Association. A similar blinking crosswalk light was installed over a year ago on E. Hartsdale Avenue and has been successful in making pedestrian crossings safer.
In addition, at the urging of the Old Edgemont Association, we plan to install a new pathway from the crosswalk at the Crane's pond to Artillery Lane. Last week residents of Edgemont who live off of Marion Avenue received good news. An application submitted to New York State to build a sidewalk on Central Ave from Marion to the four corners in Hartsdale was approved — making it safer for Edgemont residents who live in this section of town to safely walk to the Hartsdale train station. The grant we received was for $792,000 and the sidewalk should be built in 2018. We are currently completing a new sidewalk/curbing on Ft. Hill Road.
