Police said that Alfaya appeared to have bloodshot eyes and slow speech, and had difficulty maintaining eye contact.
Police had other witnesses confirm seeing the man before, including one who had seen the man pull his pants down near a group of children at 5 p.m. A second witness had reportedly seen the man in the area the previous day, smoking a substance she thought was possibly marijuana.

When police asked his name, Alfaya was uncooperative and gave a false identity. Police searched him and found his proper identification in his wallet.
Alfaya was placed under arrest and transported to Scarsdale Police Headquarters before being taken to Westchester County Jail and held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
According to Lieutenant Thomas Altizio of the SPD, Alfaya is not a registered sex offender. Altizio said he has contacted Greenacres School Principal Gerry Young and Neighborhood Association President Cathleen Campbell regarding the event, which reportedly appears to have been an isolated incident.
