The last murder in Scarsdale was almost 40 years ago.

The Scarsdale financial executive who is accused of murdering his wife remains in jail without bail.

Julius Reich, 61, is being held in the Westchester County Jail, according to an article in the Journal News.

He has been there since his wife—pediatrician Dr. Robin Goldman—was found Wednesday with at least 21 stab wounds.

The Journal News said the couple was in the middle of getting a divorce and that prosecutors said Goldman had told friends she was afraid of Reich, who was denied bail Friday.

An article on CBS New York said the district attorney said that Reich had stabbed Goldman 21 times while she was in the shower.

The D.A. also said Reich was flight risk because he had millions of dollars squirreled away overseas and had friends who could help him get away in their private jets.

CBS New York also reported the judge made Reich sign orders of protection so he cannot contact his children.

Funeral services for Goldman were held Thursday at Young Israel of Scarsdale synagogue, the New York Times said.

The Times said her three children shared stories about her and how she “doted on them,” even as they grew older.

Notably, there was no mention of their father at the funeral, the Times reported.

The New York Daily News republished an article from July 13, 1977, with details of the bludgeoning of Yale University junior Bonnie Joan Garland by her boyfriend Richard J. Herrin.

Garland had been beaten on the head with a hammer and died after undergoing surgery at White Plains Hospital.

Herrin apparently told police he did it because Garland wanted to break up with him.

Haaretz.com said hundreds of people attended Goldman’s funeral.

The family is sitting shiva—a week-long period of mourning—at the Upper West Side Manhattan apartment of a relative, Haaretz said.

A statement posted on the Young Israel of Scarsdale website said the community was grief stricken over the loss of Goldman.

“May the family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem, and may our community come together to support Robin’s children, Jenna, Alyssa and her husband Joey, Adam and his wife Ariana and their four children, in this most difficult time,” the statement read in part.
