Pedestians Struck by Motor Vehicle in Hartsdale

The following information about two pedestrians being struck by a motor vehicle on Wednesday is from Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner:

On Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at approximately 3:30 P.M., the police department responded to multiple E911 calls of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Central Park Avenue, Hartsdale, just north of the intersection of West Hartsdale Avenue. The responding officers came upon a 52 year old female and a 19 year old female lying in the roadway in the southbound lane on Central Park Avenue. Both females sustained trauma injuries, resultant to being struck by a motor vehicle as they were crossing the street. The victims were treated at the scene by Greenburgh Police EMS and transported to the Westchester Medical Center, and are listed in stable condition.

Greenburgh Police Officers temporarily closed the roadway in the southbound direction in order for Detectives to conduct an accident investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the two females were walking across Central Park Avenue, from east to west, near the vicinity of 18North Central Park Avenue. A 25 year old male driving a 2003 Hyundai, Santa Fe, bearing New York registration GPR-4689 struck both females as they crossed the street. The accident occurred as the driver of the Hyundai was driving southbound on Central Park Avenue and was merging into the left turning lane. The two females were in the center of the roadway which is divided by two double yellow lines. The females were not in a crosswalk.
The accident is currently under investigation by Greenburgh Police Detectives. The driver of the Hyundai was not cited for any vehicle and traffic law violations, nor does there appear to be any criminality at this time.
