Police Arrest Car Thief Suspect Following Foot Chase Through Scarsdale
Police tracked down and arrested an 18-year-old Mount Vernon resident accused of car theft.
Westchester County Police tracked down and arrested an 18-year-old Mount Vernon resident accused of third degree car theft and first degree unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Demitri Gordon, 18, of Crary Avenue, Mount Vernon, was taken into custody early this morning after patrol attempted to stop a vehicle with Virginia plates for traffic violations on Mamaroneck Road.
Gordon, the vehicle's operator, refused to stop and eventually drove into the Scarsdale Pool's parking lot on 311 Mamaroneck Road before jumping out of the moving vehicle and fleeing into Crossway Park.

Gordon was eventually located by multiple police units and tracking canine Saratoga, who trailed the suspect's scent through a soccer field, an adjacent field and a baseball field before discovering him camouflaged underneath a pile of leaves near Rural Drive.
A computer check revealed that the car was reportedly stolen on Oct. 30 in New York City. Gordon was charged with two felonies, third degree criminal possession of stolen property and first degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor. He was also issued two summonses, including failure to comply with a police officer and driving without a license.

Gordon was arraigned this morning in Scarsdale Village Court and remanded to Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.
