DISPATCH LOG FROM FEB. 2 TO FEB. 10, 2010

Tuesday, February 2

5:39 p.m. - An Innes Road resident called police to report a group of kids skating on the Duck Pond. The caller was concerned with the safety of the ice. The responding officer checked the ice, which appeared safe for skating. An adult was on hand to supervise the kids.

6:24 p.m. - A Sheldrake Road woman called to report that an unknown person had attempted to open a credit card account in her name.

11:42 p.m. - A Department of Transportation worker fell and sustained a head injury. The worker was transported to Westchester Medical Center.

4:16 p.m. - A Madison Road resident called to report a case of identity theft.

4:39 p.m. - A resident of Spier Road reported a burglary at her home.

6:56 p.m. - A caller reported a shoplifter at the CVS on Popham Road. The suspect, Rudy Arcara of New Rochelle, was arrested and charged with petit larceny.

10:53 p.m. - Numerous calls reported a loud explosion or pop in the area of Mamaroneck and Deerfield Roads. Upon arrival, officers found the area to be in good order.

Thursday, February 4

7:46 a.m. - A resident of Spier Road called to report a suspicious person. According to the caller, on the morning of Feb. 3, a 5'4" Hispanic male wearing a maroon sweater and blue jeans and carrying a shovel approached the caller's daughter while she was waiting for the bus. The man asked if he could shovel the driveway, to which the daughter refused, and the man left. He returned about ten minutes later, the caller said, and peered through the window on the front door of the home. When the man saw the caller he immediately fled the area. Scarsdale detectives were notified of the incident.

4:25 p.m. - Report of a two-car accident involving a green 1999 Mercedes LL and a gray 2003 Honda Accord. Injuries reported.

5:08 p.m. - A Nelson Road resident called to report that her son was missing from the home. Upon arrival, officer was informed that the boy had been found on Sprague Road. The boy was "calm and cooperative as he voluntarily walked back to his residence," police said.

6:32 p.m. - A woman on Greendale Road called to report that her ex-husband was present at the home and not welcome. Upon arriving at the scene, officers spoke to the ex-spouses' 15-year-old daughter, who stated that she did not want to see or speak with her father that night. The father, a Yonkers resident, left without incident.

Friday, February 5

2:21 a.m. - A good Samaritan brought a lost cell phone to police headquarters.

3:57 p.m. - A caller at the public library on Olmsted Road reported that two males were possibly smoking marijuana next to a pond behind the building. Officers arrived but could not locate the men.

9:15 pm. - A resident of Saxon Woods Road called to report an unknown vehicle operating on the golf course across the street from her house. An officer questioned the driver, who was a contractor doing work on a pond at the golf course.

Saturday, February 6

4:53 p.m. - A caller on Ridgedale Road reported that her neighbor's dog had been outside barking for over an hour. Upon officer's arrival, the dog was not barking, and the homeowner returned home and voluntarily brought the dog inside.

5:29 p.m. - A resident of Greendale Road reported that he drove by 21 Greendale, a newly constructed and unoccupied home, and saw a second-floor balcony door open. The responding officer found several unlocked doors, but the interior appeared in good order.  The realtor selling the home was contacted, and all doors were secured.

9:45 p.m. - A caller on Griffen Avenue reported that a green or blue SUV, possibly a Tahoe, was causing damage to mailboxes on the road. The mailbox in front of 80 Griffen was knocked over but not damaged. A canvas of the area turned up no suspects.

9:56 p.m. - A caller on Fairview Road reported a large group of teens at the end of the road making excessive noise and possibly trespassing on a property under construction. Upon arrival, patrol found the area quiet and found no house under construction.

10:04 p.m. - A resident of Lenox Avenue called to report loud noises coming from a shed on the neighbor's property, which the caller said is unoccupied. The shed was unlocked and contained large amounts of garbage. The responding officer reported that the noises were probably from an animal going through the trash.

Sunday, February 7

9:17 p.m. - A resident of River Road reported that an unknown person driving a tan or champagne-colored minivan had stopped in front of her home and dumped trash, including pizza boxes and empty beer cans, on the doorstep. The caller did not see the suspect but believes he was a local resident who may have problems with her daughter. A canvas of the area produced no suspect.

Monday, February 8

5:53 a.m. - A man on Reynolds Road in Eastchester reported having trouble breathing. He was taken to the hospital.

9:14 a.m. - A caller reported seeing a white Mercedes knock down a stop sign on Brewster Road and drive away.

11:29 a.m. - An alarm revealed a burglary attempt at a home on Walworth Avenue.

10:19 p.m. - A resident of Heathcote Road reported a possible break-in at his home. Upon arrival, officers found no signs of forced entry or any missing items. The homeowner stated that nothing was taken, but he believed someone may have been in his closet because one of his neck ties was out of place.

Tuesday, February 9

8:05 a.m. - A car accident was reported on Fenimore Road at Walworth Avenue. Injuried reported.

11:04 a.m. - A teacher at the Heathcote School reported that an i-Pod was stolen from her classroom.

3:57 p.m. - A caller reported a small male pug running loose and limping in front of 15 Park Road. The dog was wearing a collar with the owner's phone number. The responding officer called the number and left a message. The New Rochelle Humane Society took custody of the dog.

Wednesday, February 10

8:04 a.m. - Officers responded to a report of a hypodermic needle on the ground in front of 35 Popham Road. Upon arrival, an officer "observed what appeared to be a diabetic hypodermic needle" and disposed of it.

11:26 a.m. - A caller reported an ATV (all-terrain vehicle) driving recklessly in the area of Popham Road and East Parkway. A canvas of the area found no ATV.

7:00/7:59 p.m. - Numerous callers reported parked cars on Tompkins and Ramsey Roads impeding snow removal. Officers contacted the car owners, and all of the cars were moved off the road.
