Police Blotter: Jan. 19-20

Goings on about town, as recorded by Scarsdale's Finest. All incidents disclosed to Patch are a matter of public record and provided at the discretion of the Scarsdale Police Department.

Dispatch Log  From: 01/19/2010 0800  Thru: 01/20/2010  0759 

10:24am - Burglar alarm set off (false alarm) at Garden Time Nursery/Ramsey Farm, 17 Ramsey Rd. When the officer arrived, the exterior appeared to be secure, and the alarm - which eminated from the front door - had stopped.

10:35am - Burglar alarm set off (false alarm) at 15 Springdale Rd. Upon arrival the police officer noted that the location appeared to be secure and in good working order.

11:06am - A white man in a blue van who claimed to have been scheduled to perform plumbing services inside 29 Black Briar Ln. was reported to police and believed to be suspicious in nature.  The "plumber" rang the doorbell and told a household worker he had been hired to complete work inside. She contacted the owners, who said he was not their plumber, and the police were reached and responded at 11:38. A canvas of the neighborhood did not turn up the vehicle in question.  

11:30am - Police offered assistance to a woman who had fallen from her wheelchair inside her home at 14 Hillview Dr. Medical assistance arrived shortly thereafter and no injuries were reported.

11:44am An Apple laptop went missing from a woman's car parked outside of her home at 10 Southwoods Ln.  The owner states she left it in her car between the hours of 6pm the previous night and 9:10pm the following evening. 

3:05pm  - Homeowner of 2 Chesterfield Rd. said she heard a loud noise, which se described "like if someone was knocking the door really hard." When she opened the door, she didn't see anybody by the door or walking away from the residence. Patrol searched around house and neighboring area wondering if it might be a salesperson, but did not find anybody.

4:44pm - A resident at 10 Wayside Ln. has been receiving repeated telephone calls that seem to be related to some sort of scam, but collectively amount to aggravated harrassment by description.  The matter is under investigation, according to the police.

6:30pm - A female caller reached the police department on fears she had an intruder in her home. Police repsonded to 177 Clarence Rd., and two patrol officers did a thorough search of the house. They did not find any suspect inside and reported that all was in good order.

10:51pm - Officers on patrol came across a Grey 1999 Mercury two-door coupe pulling into the Wilgrin parking lot near Palmer Ave. and then pull out swiftly onto  Secor Rd., as if the driver was trying to avoid being observed by the patrol officers. The police followed the vehicle to the driveway of 46 Secor Rd. where two men emerged and walked around the property for several minutes. When approached by police the men said they were looking for the driver's license, which he believed he dropped on the site where he said he had been doing work. Patrol advised them to return during daylight. Although police tried to contact the homeowner, it appears the house is under construction and there are no phone numbers listed. The department will continue to try and follow up to reach the homeowner to confirm if the man is employed by the owner and has permission to be there. The late night patrol shift were advised to do ride-bys at the location.
